Mirik is a picturesque lake town nestled in a serene hill of Darjeeling district. This place is blessed with good climate, great natural beauty and an amazing culture that takes us back to our humble roots. In the early 70s, Mirik town used to be a meadow which was surrounded by hills. The west Bengal Tourism Department decided to construct a small dam to block the water from flowing out, thus created this beautiful Sumendu Lake. The lake is surrounded by beautiful large pine trees, with a beautiful garden constructed right in the middle of the lake. The road between the pine trees and the garden is linked together by an arching footbridge called Indreni Pull (Rainbow Bridge). The beauty of Mirik lines not just in the lake view, but around the hills where there is epitome of natural resources, humble people, and places where you can walk between the woods and lose yourself, monasteries you can visit and feel the vibration of spirituality, valleys you can walk through to see the beautiful sunrise alongside of the pristine Kanchenjunga Mountain range, the undulating hills and the curve roads. Isolated away from the crowded town of the hills, this place is a natural beauty yet to be discovered.
